Sauna

Download Sauna

Downloads for macOS and Linux are on their way.

macOS

For Apple silicon and Intel Macs on macOS 13 or later. Signed and notarised by Apple, so it opens like any app you download.

On its way.

  1. Open the disk image and drag Sauna into Applications.
  2. Open Sauna from Applications. Your CPU appears in the menu bar.
  3. Tick Start at login in its menu to keep it there.

Linux

For Debian, Ubuntu and their relations, as a package with no dependencies.

On its way.

  1. In the folder you downloaded it to, install it: sudo dpkg -i sauna_*.deb (it needs nothing else installed)
  2. Open Sauna from your applications, or run sauna. The tray icon is a thermometer that fills as the CPU climbs.
  3. On GNOME, tray icons need the AppIndicator extension: sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-appindicator
  4. On a machine with no desktop, sauna --no-tray serves the details page alone.
  5. To reach the details page, choose Open details… in the tray, open Sauna again from your applications, or run sauna --url for its link. The link holds a key made at each start, so the address alone won't open it.

Release notes

Notes arrive with the first release.

Sauna checks for new versions itself, twice a day, and says so in its menu. It sends nothing about your machine.
